Good Friday Walk of Witness, 2025

For over 30 years we have held a walk of witness on Good Friday carrying a cross across the churches of the southern end of the Benefice. At each church we sing a hymn, are read a passage of the Passion story from John’s gospel and another reading from either the Old Testament or a reading of poetry based on the Passion of Christ. This year we started at St James’, Upper Wield walking to All Saints’, Bradley then to St Mary’s, Preston Candover. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at The Yard, Chilton Candover before continuing our walk to St. Peter’s, Brown Candover, finally finishing at St John’s Northington. This year we had 12 complete the whole 11 and a half miles, but we had around 24 finish the walk and around 40 participants who would have walked at least one section in the day.
