Letter no 40

2nd January 2021

Benefice of Farleigh, Candover and Wield

Dear friends,

Happy New Year; we hope you all managed to have a reasonable Christmas celebration, albeit in these most difficult of circumstances. It was good to see so many at the various socially distanced open air carol services, blessed with good weather for almost all of them.

We will continue to have “live” services in each church and parish on the usual rota for the moment, augmented with online services, as in the past few months, and we will try to keep everyone informed via these weekly letters so that you are kept up to date with any changes.

The usual guidelines for church services continue to apply: there is no need to fear coming to church – we are all being sensible and taking necessary steps in keeping safe from any possible infection – wash hands and use hand sanitiser before coming, wear masks unless you are reading/leading prayers/ playing organ. Keep to social distancing, sitting in alternate pews - family groups sitting together, and no mingling during or after services.

There is no need to book for services at present as our usual congregational sizes are easily accommodated – we only had to book at Christmas as there are always more folk coming to carol and communion services. Easter services may require booking in, but we will see closer the time.

Please do continue to pray for us all to see God’s hand of mercy in these troubling days, that His actions will be recognised as we bring hope to a dying and lost world, and that what is most important may transcend what is not.

May God bless each of you – “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).

May God bless you and your families in these difficult times – Do not fear – do not worry: God is good, all the time.

With every blessing,

In His love,

David and Stephen
